DR Javed Mohungoo

He completed his medical degree at Leeds University in 2001 before going on to complete his dermatology training in Sheffield.


Dr Javed Mohungoo is a skilled and knowledgeable Consultant Dermatologist with over ten year’s experience in dermatology.


Dr Mohungoo has a great interest and expertise in general dermatology, paediatric dermatology, mole removal, skin cancer, acne vulgaris, eczema, psoriasis and skin allergies.


Dr Javed Mohungoo also has experience in Hair and Scalp disorders which has led him to write a chapter on female pattern hair loss and has been involved in research projects - finding new mutations in patients with hair disorders.


He currently works as a Consultant Dermatologist at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital.


He is also the National Clinical Lead for Dermatology at Virgin Care Dermatology and a Consultant Dermatologist. Within this role, he was instrumental in building secondary care services within the community and introducing new technology. He set up a new Teledermatology Service in Northern Lincolnshire for which he won A Striving for Better Award for Innovation. He was also nationally recognised and was Finalist at the British Medical Journal Award for Dermatology Team of the Year in 2019. Within Virgin Care he is the Lead for Skin Cancer MDT, Clinical Governance, Medicine Management and Deputy Caldicott Guardian. He was previously a Consultant and Clinical Lead at Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Hospitals.


Dr Mohungoo was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2019 in recognition of outstanding service. He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Tutor with the Hull Medical School. He is a Principal Investigator in a study of patients on Biologics in psoriasis.
